Foresight's Folly: A Crow Special Halloween Adventure + Military Heroes
over 1 year ago – Fri, Oct 20, 2023 at 09:37:43 AM

Happy Almost Halloween, Evil Backers!

I’ve got a short update for you today! In the spirit of tricks and treats, we at Evil Genius Games have only treats for you this year. Also, for transparency, I’ll be posting this update in both this campaign as well as our Everyday Heroes campaign, so if you have already read it there, you can disregard this one. Alright, let’s get to it!

Mini Adventure for The Crow - AVAILABLE THROUGH HALLOWEEN!

Have you guys been enjoying our Cinematic Adventure for The Crow? If you have, and even if you haven’t had the chance to look into yet, this mini adventure will be perfect for you! Just for Halloween, we created a stand-alone additional adventure in the world of The Crow. It’s called Foresight's Folly, and people are already really enjoying it. We wrote it to work seamlessly in your Crow campaigns as it can serve as a prequel to “Prayers of the Past,” the adventure we already included in the Cinematic Adventure! Just like our others, this one is 5s compatible, AND it comes with two full color maps!

Keep in mind, this adventure will only be available for the rest of the month! You have until midnight on Halloween to get this adventure, so make sure you don’t miss it. You can find it here, on our website. Set the alarms on your phones and clocks and kitchen egg timers!

Military Heroes Campaign Coming to Gamefound in January 2024!

As many of you know, we’re launching our Military Heroes crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound! After some deliberation with the team and in order to be able to give you guys the best game we can, we decided to push the launch back to January 2024. You will not want to miss this campaign. Here are some of the things we have in store for it:

  • Military Heroes serves as an additional military focussed supplement to Everyday Heroes. It will have new backgrounds, occupations, and feats that combine to reflect military specialties.
  • Guidance for developing new special operations units
  • Tools on how to build military encounters
  • For the campaign, we’re collaborating with two charities, Imagination Veterans and Stack-Up, both of which committed to championing the preservation of mental health in Veterans through gaming
  • We’ll be donating more money to them every stretch goal, during the second weekend of the campaign, we’ll be donating $50 to them for every $1000 you give us, with our “Evil Genius with Battle Buddy” and “Evil Hitman with Battle Buddy” backer tiers, you can pay to donate a whole game and send it to a Veteran in need, AND I (Maya) will be hand crocheting sweaters for service dogs as an add on. 10% of those proceeds will go to the charities as well! The more we succeed in the campaign, the more we give to them!
  • We’ve beefed up the writing team on this project as well! We have game writers who are also Veterans from all over the world, including Luke Gygax, son of Gary Gygax, and creator of Gary Con and Gaxx Worx!
  • We also have a follower gift! For all those who follow the game by clicking the “FOLLOW” button on the Gamefound page and then backing some sort of tier with goods to receive, you’ll also get an additional free one-shot! This Military Heroes themed one-shot has been written by the producer of our project and one of the original designers of d20 Modern, Rich Redman. So, be sure to follow the campaign! Following the campaign means you’ll get email notifications on backer updates we send, polls we do about game content, and any other announcements regarding the campaign! If you back a tier with games to receive of some kind, you can follow the campaign at ANY TIME while the campaign is live to get this free one-shot, so be sure to do that! It’ll be sent in PDF form with the rest of the games.

So, don’t forget you have until Halloween to get our stand-alone mini adventure for The Crow, Foresight’s Folly, and our Gamefound campaign launches in January! Follow along here to get that free one-shot! I’ll be posting another status update before the month is over, so please be on the lookout for that backer update as well. Things are still on time, so thank you for your patience! If you have any questions about your order or if you want to change your mailing address, remember to send me an email to [email protected] so I can help you out. Have a good weekend!

September Update - BackerKit Locks Today!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Sep 29, 2023 at 10:57:31 AM

Hello Evil Backers!

I hope you’ve all been well! Thank you for your patience in waiting for this update. I’m going to put together everything that happened in my mini updates if you missed those plus additional information from this week. We also have another campaign coming up where we’re working with charities that help veterans in need through gaming. Take a look at the update, and I hope you enjoy it!

Things Are Smooth on Skull Island and in the Dominion

Both teams let me know that things are going very smoothly along towards our deadlines, which as of right now, are still being met! Here’s what both groups have been up to:

The Dominion of Iron Adventure Path

  • Adventures started to receive art assets and all of the non-adventure materials are being finalized
  • The fancy metal box is an official design schematic!
  • The Jaeger Codex went to the editors and the art is being worked out!
  • Adventures are being finalized
  • Art is ongoing and looking awesome
  • The Jaeger Codex went to Editing and Proofing!

As of right now…

  • Adventures should be all ready for edits by the end of the day!!
  • The Jaeger Codex is headed to layout
  • One of the coolest new Kaiju got its preliminary art done, and it looks awesome!

The Isle of the Damned Adventure Path

  • Art orders for all bestiary monsters are now written and in the pipeline
  • Some sections of the adventure are now complete in rough draft form and being reviewed
  • Adventures are nearing completion
  • Our collection of monsters has a new name: The Cryptid Codex!
  • Art orders for all monsters are written and in-process!

As of right now…

  • Michael, the producer for the project, has seen our first previews of the Kong Cryptid Codex art from Bora, our lead artist, and it looks amazing!

I’m sure many of you are really looking forward to checking out some art, and I’m right there with you! Unfortunately, we’re not able to release any art until it has been approved by Legendary, so we need a little more time. I can say that things are looking pretty great, and we hope to get you some art you can see for yourself as soon as possible! Your patience in this whole process has been amazing, and we hope that our transparency in what we’re working on and when has been enlightening for you. We don’t want to leave you hanging while we’re working on this! Thank you all for being patient, and hopefully we’ll have some cool things for you to look at soon.

The BackerKit Locks This Evening!

Today is the very last day for the BackerKit! Don’t worry, though. I won’t be locking it until 5PM Mountain Time TODAY September 29, 2023, so you still have some time. If you need to adjust your address, you can do that! If you want to toss in a few more folios so your gaming group can go to Skull Island in style, you can do that too! After today, you will not be able to log into BackerKit and make any changes to your order, so please make sure to give it a second look before you’re not able to make those changes on your own.

Now, the BackerKit being locked means you can’t make changes on your own or add more items to your order, but it doesn’t mean we can’t fix any mistakes. If you have an issue with your address, if you move, or if you have any typos in your name, you can send me an email to [email protected], and I’ll make any corrections you need. All is not lost, but you do need to go through me to make any corrections. So, do all that you can before the BackerKit locks!

Your cards will be charged soon as well! I’ll be charging cards on Monday October 2, 2023, and this will account for anything extra you purchased in BackerKit or any shipping fees. Please look out for this charge in your own personal transactions! If you have any issues with it, send me an email, and I’ll look into what happened!

New Facebook Pages and Gamefound Campaign!

Military Heroes is coming to Gamefound in November!

If you backed our Everyday Heroes campaign, you may have seen this information in that update too, so you can skip this part. If this is the only campaign of ours you back, listen up!

We’ve made some new Facebook pages for our individual products! As you know, we’ve had an Evil Genius Games Facebook page for quite some time now. In light of new products coming out, we made a new page for Everyday Arcana and Military Heroes as well! There is already a lovely group for Everyday Heroes, and we’ve teamed up with them to make it an official group from here on out! There will still be lovely community posts that we do hope you all continue, but I will also be making official posts from the company about the game as it progresses. Please like both pages and join the group for community discussion about our books and official posts from me about what we’re working on.

We are also bringing Military Heroes to Gamefound! We at Evil Genius Games are strong supporters of the intersection of gaming and mental health, and this campaign is a great way for you to get involved too. We're teaming up with two charities, Imagination Veterans and Stack Up! By supporting us, you're also supporting them, providing funding and games for Veterans who need it. The campaign will launch in November, and there are lots of ways to help. First of course, portions of the proceeds are going to both groups, but in addition to that, you have the option to back tiers where you purchase a game to be donated directly to a Veteran. There’s also something else very unique and important about the campaign! As a person with OCD myself, I trained my service dog alongside many Vets in my area. I’m really excited to say that I’ll be crocheting sweaters for Veterans’ services dogs as an add-on, and a portion of the proceeds will again go to those charities! Please keep in touch with all our social media channels to be informed of that launch!

That’s all we have for right now! Remember, if you need any help from me or if you miss the BackerKit locking window and have a change to make, send me an email to [email protected] and I’ll help you out as best I can. Have a good weekend!

August Update - Still On Schedule
over 1 year ago – Thu, Aug 31, 2023 at 01:24:04 PM

Hey Evil Backers,

Happy Autumn! This is my favorite season, and I’m very much looking forward to all things fall. In addition to hot chocolate, warm fuzzy sweaters, and piles of crunchy leaves, I’ve got a great update for you to get excited about as well! As usual, I’ll go over everything that was in the mini weekly updates and also just a bit more. I mentioned this last week in the weekly update, but in case you missed it, there will be no mini weekly update this week (it would normally be posted tomorrow) since I’m posting this big update today! Alright let’s do it ^_^

Both Teams Are On Schedule!

It’s truly thrilling to see these stories come to life. As of right now, we’re still on schedule for shipping in May of next year. If there should be any changes to this, we’ll let you know as soon as it happens! Let’s get started with what was covered in the mini updates in case you don’t read those.

The Dominion of Iron Adventure Path

  • Art has progressed a lot, including one of the coolest new Kaiju to spring from these pages thus far
  • We received official permission to use some interesting technology in the Jaeger Codex to help design new Jaegers at home!
  • The adventures themselves have entered the edit/stitch-together phase, creating one cohesive and amazing story
  • Goober and Bryan are coordinating the adventures and figuring out the overall flow of the campaign
  • The complete story of the adventure arc is taking final shape
  • The Jaeger Codex is finishing up initial writing and design, thanks to Goober as well
  • The planning for map tiles and standees has officially begun!

As of right now….

  • Writing, Writing, Writing
  • We’re getting the Jaeger Codex finished for review
  • We’re finalizing some really cool new Kaiju art

The Isle of the Damned Adventure Path

  • We're getting even more art for our bestiary book than we originally planned, thanks to our amazing art director, Bora!
  • We've added Rue Dickey to the writing team for Kong! Rue (they/he/xe) is a CRIT Award winning, Ennie, Diana Jones Emerging Designer & Hugo nominated, nonbinary, mixed-Indigenous-Roma-Welsh, disabled game designer, sensitivity reader, cosplayer, and community organizer living on unceded Kalapuya territory with xir two spouses, tiny dog, and long noodle baby. They would like to make the world just a little brighter—by bringing new stories into the spotlight. Xe loves all things monstrous, horrifying, and strange, and is proud to be a never-recovering circus goth.
  • Art orders for the bestiary are going out, and we have that book laid out now
  • Rue got up to speed on their section and all writers pressed forward.
  • Rue also then entered the “turning original notes into more comprehensible sections” phase, which has been really fun!
  • Reyn has started Act 1, and it’s looking good
  • Michael is restructuring Act 2 to make it last longer

As of right now…

  • Writing writing madly writing
  • Bestiary entries are coming in and Michael is starting to do his development passes on them
  • Art orders are being drafted for the bestiary
  • The second Kongtest winning Creature, Shayor’s Tanystalker, is also finished! This guy is really cool, and I honestly really enjoyed making these. Both backers have been sent their creatures, and I’m glad they have new homes! Check this guy out!

We have some more news as well! Some of you may have noticed that we are increasing the pages in the Isle of the Damned Bestiary. This is because we’re doing something new with our team! All members of our company staff have been invited to create and suggest their own creatures for the Bestiary as well, and we’re adding several to the game! This allows us to really flex our creativity across the whole company, beyond just the writers team. We hope you like the new monsters we’re making, and we’ll give you a sneak preview of them in a future backer update.

Right now, all of the art is still under wraps, but just know that as soon as we do have art we can share with you, we’ll post it here! We’re cooking up a lot of cool stuff, and we do want to share it with you, but we need to do that with the full permission of Legendary. We really appreciate your patience and understanding about this!

BackerKit Is Still Opened

As you know the BackerKit is still open, and it will remain open through September 29, 2023! Thank you all for finishing out your surveys so quickly. There are still a few left, but it’s only a handful. If you have any questions about your order or need some help still, feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] so I can make sure everything is squared away with you.

Also, keep sharing the campaign to your friends! Because the BackerKit is still open, we can still take on new late backers who may have missed the campaign. All is not lost! Send them to this link, and they can still make orders. They will not be able to get the Kickstarter exclusives, but they can still get the games before they go to retail if they’d like to get things ahead of the crowd. Share the Isle of the Damned and Dominion of Iron love!

Hey Retailers! We Will Be At Alliance Open House!

We will have a booth and lots of presence at Alliance Open House in Fort Wayne this year! You can find us at our booth 502 during Exhibit Hours, or anywhere during the convention in our Evil Genius Games T-shirts! If you have any questions about our games, making other orders, or just want to chat and meet with us face to face, come say hello! Our Diabolical Loyalty Lab program is well underway, and we’re putting a lot of effort into creating new and positive relationships with our retailers. You guys are central hubs for our community, and you deserve to be appreciated as such!

We are also taking late backers for retail orders, but we need to add you into the BackerKit manually. If you have any retailer friends who missed the campaign, let them know all is not lost for them either! Just send us an email to [email protected] and we’ll get them added to the BackerKit so they can still order games.

That’s all I have for you guys right now! I’m really happy that things are moving smoothly and on time, and you guys have been such a great community of backers. Remember, if you have any questions about your orders, don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email! You can also join our Discord server! There, you can speak to our designers and developers directly, asking them your questions about the game, and getting hype with other members of our community. It’s a great place to be, and I hope to see you all there! Please have a good rest of your week and weekend, and we’ll see you soon!

July Update - GenCon and More!
over 1 year ago – Mon, Jul 31, 2023 at 12:41:40 PM

Hello Evil Backers,

It’s been a while! It’s the end of July, and we’ve got several things to update you on. Just like I promised, everything from the comment updates will also be in this bigger update if you didn’t want to read those. We’ve also got a few additional things, so please find the time to read it through! Alright, let’s get down to business.

Both Teams Are Moving Forward

There has been a lot of progress on both teams for both CAPS! Also, the incomparable Mark Thompson has begun work on the Combat Wheelchair for both stories. As a person with disabilities of my own, I can't wait to see how this is utilized, and I'm so proud that our game is taking all types of accessibility into account. As for the rest, allow me to sum it up so it’s easier to digest:

The Isle of the Damned Adventure Path

  • Full treatment was submitted to Legendary films for their review, and we got the official okay to begin (meaning it's all going to fit Monsterverse canon)

  • All major parts of the Adventure Path (AP) have been mapped out!

  • We picked our winners for the Kongtests! All creature and character descriptions are being fine tuned with the submitters and our team. Once we have everything all worked out, I'll fill you in here! For now, here are the names of the creatures and characters that took the cake.

  • Creature Winners (We have two winners for this as the team just couldn’t decide!)

Erik Evert - Slitherflower

Shayor Sheikh - Tanystalker

  •  Character Winners (One main winner, and three honorable mentions that will be epically chomped in the story)

Matthew C. Cutter / WINNER! - Libbet Sanchez (she/her)

Tyler Catalone / TO BE CHOMPED - Dr. Axwell "Ax" O'Brien

Alexander Loucks / TO BE CHOMPED - Carl C Cooper (he/him)

Eugenio / TO BE CHOMPED - Zander Corso (he/him)

Congrats to everyone who submitted these to us as you made our team’s job very hard! Now, back to the updates on the Kong team:

  • The "Kongregation" of writers are continuing to write/get words on the page (This is one of our favorite puns)

  • 3/4 of the writing team were at Origins, and they gave away a few spoilers with a secret word!

  • The team has started work on the rule set for the research challenges within the AP

  • Progress is being made on maps and encounters

  • The Slitherflower plushie is officially finished as per Erik’s direction. Check out the pictures, and I’ll be working on the Tanystalker next!
I worked hard to give the eyes the atrophied look, as per Erik's direction
Here he is in his finished glory, along with the inspiration picture drawn by Erik and the color direction I was sent

The Dominion of Iron Adventure Path

  • The team has started making jaegers, and they're really cool

  • The outlining phase of the book has begun

  • Writers started to build the adventures

  • The team did work on headers and adventure structures so everyone is in sync

  • The team ordered the art for a slew of new Kaiju and Jaegers

  • A host of big bad guys have been made

  • The team has made a list of interesting bits of narrative information GMs can reward players with that research their foes

  • They constructed a skeletal framework of the Jaeger Codex and began work on it

  • Bryan interviewed new artists to make super awesome Jaeger and Jaeger tech art

  • Artists started to put figurative brush to paper

  • The prototype dice bags we saw at Origins were INCREDIBLE!

  • New Kaiju Art is taking shape

  • New Jaeger Art is taking shape too!

  • Tactical Maps are being designed

  • The writers came up with some very cool additions to the outlined story that required us to talk with Legendary's "Loremaster" to ensure everything we create is in line with their canon

  • The first new Kaiju art pieces started to arrive, and they look appropriately awesome and scary

  • The first section of the Jaeger Codex has now been penned, with work on new technologies and compiling existing ones

  • Adventure segments are starting to really come together

  • Things are going well! On track and progressing as expected

Right now, with both teams working hard, we’re still on time for our projected delivery next year! This is very good news. If anything should change that, I’ll let you know in every way possible! As soon as I have art to share with you guys, I’ll share that with you as well.

We’re Going To GenCon!

If you’ll be attending GenCon this year, be sure to come and see us! We’ll be at booth #737 in the main hall, and we have a ton of great stuff for you all to experience! You can come to our booth to play some games with our staff there, and you can also play in our scheduled gaming events. Sign up for the last few of those here before they all get scooped up! Be aware of the times as well just in case there are any dropouts and you can fill a spot with your own ticket. We really love playing games with you guys, so we’re looking forward to creating new adventures with you over the weekend. Sign up for our newsletter to see all that we'll offer and get some info on our Evil Genius Goodies!

On top of all this, we have another custom table that we’re raffling off to a lucky winner! This amazing table is set in the Highlander universe. You can get a raffle ticket entered into the pot just by playing a game event with us or by making purchases at our booth. This is our second table we’ve made, and I dare say we’ve outdone ourselves.

Make sure you find a way to get in on this raffle! There can be only one!

The BackerKit is Still Open!

A very large chunk of you have already gone in and filled out your BackerKit surveys, which is awesome! Thank you all for doing that so quickly. Remember, if you have any questions about that, you can still reach out to me at [email protected] so I can help you out. You have until September 29th, 2023 to fill out your BackerKit survey. At that time, orders will be locked, and you won’t be able to make any changes on your own. Don't worry too much though! If there are any imminent changes, please send me an email so I can make them accordingly.

The pre-order store is open too, so if you have any friends who missed out on the campaign, send them this way! The cut off for this is also September 29th, so let them know to do it as soon as possible.

Welcome to the Diabolical Loyalty Lab!

We’ve been expanding our Retailer engagement as well. FLGSs are so important in our community, and we’re looking to form relationships with as many as we can. I’m putting together a team, referred to as our League of Evil Retail Acolytes, that will be reaching out to stores, helping them facilitate organized play events, and making sure they have all the support they need from us to promote our game!

This program is super exciting for us because we love the idea of being able to expand our community even further than we already are. We make our games as diverse and as accessible as possible as our community continues to grow, and that’s happening in stores too! FLGSs are the backbone of community gaming, creating safe spaces for all of us who previously didn’t have a space like that. If you’re a retailer and you’d like to get involved in the program, you can either email me directly or email our retailer email [email protected] to get involved. We’d love to meet you!

Other Projects

We’ve also got a few other fun things happening in our community! Be sure to check everything out just in case you discover something new that you like.

  •  The Crow is coming to Foundry! - We’ve already got the Everyday Heroes Core Rulebook on Foundry, but we have some Cinematic Adventures coming soon too! The team is working on Escape From New York, and even sooner, our adventure for The Crow will be released as well.

I’ll make sure to announce this release on our socials, so keep an eye out there! If you love The Crow and also gaming with your friends online, you won’t want to miss it. Also, if you backed our first campaign and got the Everyday Heroes Core Rulebook on Foundry but you haven’t received the code, please send me an email to [email protected] so that I can help you get it!

  •  Our Urbana Arcana Winner will be revealed very soon! - Thank you all so much for voting in our Urban Arcana campaign! It was very difficult to pick a winner, but we of course took your votes into account. This Thursday at GenCon, we’ll be announcing the winner! Come by our booth #737 in the main hall to hear it first from us! We’ll also be posting it on our socials later down the line, but we want the initial announcement to be special. If you’re going to GenCon, make sure you don’t miss it!

  •  Strange & Grim out soon! - Our friends at Gaxx Worx are working on a really awesome TTRPG setting that we’d like you to check out. Strange & Grim is a Dieselpunk game, based in the world of Baennor where the discovery of, and access to raw magic has catapulted the world into a new age of industrialization and discovery. Called the Age of Wonder by many scholars, magic and science together and separate are rapidly rebuilding and advancing society after the last world war. It looks incredible, and it's compatible with 5e, so definitely check it out when you can! Their Kickstarter will launch this October.

That’s all I’ve got for today’s update! Thank you all for being so patient on its arrival. I’m so glad that our team has been working to get you a game you’ll all enjoy. It’s not easy stuff! As more updates come in, I’ll be filling you in weekly in our comments section and in our Discord server, but again, if you prefer, there will be another big update like this one at the end of next month that recaps everything. Whichever way you like, I’ll get you the info you need somehow! See you all later, Evil Backers! I wish you well in all your TTRPG shenanigans ^_^

The BackerKit Is Live!
over 1 year ago – Fri, Jun 30, 2023 at 10:34:43 AM

Hello Evil Backers,

We’ve been toiling away at this since the campaign ended, and we’re finally finished. It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for! I wish there was some sort of text that conveyed a drumroll? Well, to the best of my ability, without further ado, brbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr…

The BackerKit Is Live!

It’s time for that thing I mentioned in the previous update and throughout the campaign! You now all have access to the BackerKit. This is where you’ll put in your mailing address, add on any additional items you’d like to include in your order, and complete your order so it’s ready to ship! You should have all received an email sent directly to the one you use here on Kickstarter asking you to complete your pledge. If you haven’t received that email, please reach out to me, Maya, at [email protected] so I can help you make sure you get it. You can also reach out to me if you haven’t received the email and want it to be sent to a different one instead. You can ALSO just use this link to access it for ease! For those who are familiar with BackerKit, this is just another day in the park for you, and you can skip the next part, but for those who are totally new to the process, I’ve got a ton of pictures to help you get through it. The BackerKit will be open until September 29, 2023, so remember to complete it in time! If you don’t complete it by the deadline, your order is subject to shipping delays.

BackerKit 101

First thing’s first, once we’ve sorted out the email situation or if you got it first off, this is what it looks like:

Click where it says “Click Here to Respond” to be taken to your survey! Once you do that, you’ll be taken to this screen:

On this page, you’ll see a very brief overview of your pledge. It’ll tell you how much the pledge costs and how much you paid on Kickstarter. If your payment failed on Kickstarter, that will be indicated here as well. Once you’ve confirmed that everything looks how it should, click on the “Get Started” button to go further. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have been taken to the Add-ons page:

Here, you can chuck any of those other add-ons you missed onto your order! This is also where later backers can add the Gipsy Danger mini for $15 and where GMs can add more folios to their order as well. Anything you need, just click “Add to Cart,” and it will show up on the right side with the rest of your goods!

Take note that at the top of the page, it will always remind you what pledge you backed during the Kickstarter:

Once you’re done with all this and you feel satisfied with what’s on your order, you can click the “Next” button. Then, it’s time to put in your shipping information:

Fill in all the information appropriately, and hit “Next” when you’re finished. Keep in mind also that all of these fields are required to continue. After you put in your address, it’ll ask you to verify that address:

You can choose whether or not to make any changes to your address here. You can click “Submit Address” or “Submit Selected Address” with the one you like best to move on. Once you do, you’ll be taken to the “Confirm” page:

Here is your last chance to make sure everything is right on your order. You can check all your items where it says Pledge Items, your Add-ons will be listed at the bottom left of the page, you can make sure your address is correct by checking the Shipping Info section, and you can pay for any additional goods or just the shipping cost by entering your card into the Payment section. As a reminder, we didn’t charge any shipping during the campaign, so every backer of physical goods will need to pay a shipping fee to get your goods. Once everything is all verified and completed and you feel good about what you’ll receive and what you’re about to pay, just hit the “Place My Order” button to finish completing your survey.

The last page you’ll see is a confirmation page. When you log in to BackerKit in the future to check on your pledge, you can check the shipping status in the Status section of the page. I’ll also be updating you all about the shipping status in the form of Backer Update emails, weekly updates in the Kickstarter comments section, and posts in our Discord server! I’ll never leave you uninformed about where your stuff is, so don’t worry. If you have any additional questions about your order or about BackerKit in general, just send me an email! I’m here to help you out so you don’t have to sit in your confusion.

Remember, the deadline for completing your BackerKit survey is September 29th, 2023, so please remember to complete it on time! I’ll be posting more updates before it’s closed as reminders as well.

BackerKit - Upgrading Your Pledge Tier

There are a lot of you who backed the campaign at $1 so you’d still have access to the BackerKit after the campaign. Thank you for doing that! There are also some of you who gave the campaign money without picking a tier at all, just to support us. Thank you for that too! In order for you to see all the cool add-ons available for the campaign, you’ll need to upgrade from your $1 Evil Kid tier or your unassigned tier of any monetary amount to at least our lowest pledge tier of $25 for the digital rewards. I’ll show you how to do that as well! When you click to view your BackerKit survey, you’ll see something like this:

This is what you will see if you backed the $1 Evil Kid pledge tier
This is what you will see if you backed any amount but with no pledge tier

In either case, you’ll need to upgrade to at least the Digital $25 Evil Minion tier of either type to get rewards. Do that by clicking on “Switch your Pledge Level” in blue underneath the big green button. Once you do, you’ll see this very long drop down screen:

Select one of those new pledge tiers, and the rest of your BackerKit experience will look just like the images above! Keep in mind that in either scenario, if you just click the green “Get Started!” button without upgrading your pledge tier, you’ll be taken to this terrifying screen where there isn’t anything and you can’t do anything:

That screen won’t allow you to add any items to your order or anything like that. It is literally just a terrifying BackerKit endless void. So, you must upgrade your pledge to at least the lowest digital tier to get items. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email though if you need more help! Don’t get banished into the void!

For any leftover or weird payments needed after we lock the BackerKit, we'll be charging your cards again on October 6th, 2023 just to make sure everything is squared away. This will only happen if there is any remainder due on your order. If your order is finished and paid in full, your card will not be charged any additional times, so don't worry about that!

Where the HECK Is This $10k Shipping Coming From??

Some of you may come across your shipping cost as $10,000 at some point in the process, but don't fear! We know why this is happening, and you will NOT be charged that insane amount of money for shipping your order.

We've seen this come up when digital backers add physical item add-ons to their orders. BackerKit looks like it's trying to charge you $10k for shipping because your address hasn't yet been verified. Since your pledge was, up until this point, entirely digital, and you are now adding on a physical item, BackerKit added the item to your order with ease. But, because you never specified your shipping country in Kickstarter (because you didn't have to since you got digital rewards), the BackerKit shipping system defaulted to "Unknown Location," which we've set to $10k to prevent people from making orders in countries to which we cannot ship. Don't worry though! You are not being charged at this point. I've got some steps here as well to help you complete your order.

So, when you add the physical add-ons, your order may look like this:

Don't worry though! Click the big blue Next anyway, and it'll take you to a section to fill out your address:

Confirm your address as usual:

NOW you will see that the shipping is normal!

Now that BackerKit actually knows where it's shipping the order, your shipping cost is corrected to a much more normal amount not reminiscent to our student loan payments. This all happens BEFORE you have to even enter any payment information, so you will only be charged the correct amount. Hopefully that clears things up, but feel free to reach out to me if you're still confused!

For retailers, you may also see $10k as your shipping cost right now. This is actually a bug that we're working to fix, as it is somehow only affecting retailers. We hope to have it resolved by tomorrow, and when it is officially resolved, I'll be reaching out to all 17 of you to let you know.

Jellop Helped Us. Now, They Can Help You!

To get our campaign out there into the internet nerdosphere, our friends over at Jellop did a great job sending blasts about our campaign! Our project was featured on the First Backer Newsletter, and we'd like to invite you to join its growing community of Kickstarter backers. You'll receive fresh Kickstarter projects, amazing early bird offers, as well as awesome freebies delivered right to your inbox! I know I'm here as a project creator to you guys, but I am also very much guilty of backing almost every cool TTRPG I see pop up, ESPECIALLY if it somehow involves clones. Click here to subscribe!

That’s all we have for right now, so please make sure you’re keeping up with your backer update emails to stay informed with what we’re working on and when things are being released. Don’t forget about the BackerKit deadline of September 29th, 2023, but if you’re as forgetful as I am, I’ll be sending you more backer update emails before it locks to let you know how many days you have left. Don’t worry. I’ll make sure no one is left behind. See you next time!
